WATER TO WINE
John 2:1-10

When the storms of life enter your life they are never pleasant. Storms can be fearsome and dangerous some storms alter the landscape and damage property. We never like to see storms come, but love to see them go. However, we as well as the ground needs water. The rain saturates the ground grow the seeds planted in the ground we are soil that the word is planted in. And God sends storms to help seeds that were planted in are lives by the word of God to grow to help us in the time of need. It is these storms that really move us in a new direction, growth and destiny. It is connected to our destiny it did not rain on the earth until there was a man to till the ground. I believe there are some of you that are going through some major storms in your there is a word for you from the Lord that is going to change your situation. You have been battling the question of why. You have lost your job, doctors’ news, facing divorce, addiction that’s ruining your life, children that are on their way to abusing there bodies and you don’t know what to do. I want you to know that god is able he can use these events to restore and recover those things in your life that you thought you had lost. Think of the things that you have gone through that God has used in your life that to make you stronger and caused you to reach your potential.

Jesus takes the disciples on a trip on the sea of gallie and appoints a storm come into their lives.   God does not try to hurt them just prove them. He will use anything to get us to rely on Him. While on the sea the storm arises, when they left there was no storm, otherwise they would have protested the trip. If we knew when God appointed storms for us we would argue with God about rather it was a good idea or not. These disciples are now in the middle of a storm fighting to stay afloat. And no Jesus to lead the way, no Jesus to tell them anything. Where is Jesus? Watching and waiting. He allows this to happen so he can take them somewhere that they don’t want to go. It maybe scary, frightening and your knees maybe knocking even though he maybe out of site he’s not out of touch.

And Jesus comes, walking on the water. He is no longer waiting but watching and walking. If we could only be faithful until the end. And let god do what only he can do with and in us. I believe the wedding at Cana will help you understand why god is allowing you to go through some things and how he will use these things to help you reach your destiny. That storm you have been going through you have been appointed for it.

I believe God is going to take the water of your storms and turn it into wine!

First, Lets look at the text and note a few things this wine is something man made and this what they run out of. How many times has your happiness run out on you? Your dreams failed to deliver? And you are about to face disgrace and there is nothing you can do about it. That’s when you realize that your ways are not god’s ways; your thoughts are not god’s thoughts. That the worlds wine our wine that we made with our hands is not sufficient. We find ourselves lacking and don’t know what to do. We are in a need of restoration, restoration of hope, restoration of dreams, of joy and peace.

Second, the stone pots were “set” which means destined or appointed this word is translated in Luke 2:34 when talking about Christ they us the word “destined” also used in revelations when talking about the throne of God. God has appointed or destined some things in your life to get were he wants you. He destined some things to bring restoration in your life. Do you mean the water of break up, divorce, and bankruptcy? That’s what god is going to fill up, that’s what god’s going to turn over? I was an empty vessel when I faced these things filled with the waters of disappointment from the storms in my life if it wasn’t for the storms in my life then there would have been nothing to work with.  Think about the things in your life that god has appointed to get you to a place of purpose and destiny. God asked Moses what’s in your hand? I know you may think they are used up, but God likes to use those things the world thinks are of no use. Not only does God appoint things in your life but he also has appointed you for a miracle. And it’s in his own time he tells Mary basically it’s not my hour which means I will just when I’m ready to move. The thing about it is everything needed for the miracle is already in place the pots were there.

Third, the thing about this miracle is not only did the wine run out but also the water did too! The first wine took time and ran out but the second wine took seconds and no record of it running out most marriage celebrations lasted seven days this one was only in the third day so Gods wine lasted at least four days! When god restores he does it completely but look how God does it. He tells them to fill the water pots these water pots are commonly believed to hold about 30 gals. Apiece this would mean that they needed to come up with almost 180 gallons of water. Where did they get this much water? Well the bible says that they drew it and this is what I wanted to get at even though you may not like storms you may need them and you are appointed to face them so god can use them to bring wine back into your life that this time will not run out the only way they could draw because between October and April the area gets some twenty-five inches of rain. So while the wedding was being planned they were facing rain. In those days when it rained they collected the rainwater with troths and gutters to have the water run to a collection point and when needed they could draw it. They went to draw on it when they needed it, you will need a deep place in your life so when the storm water falls you don’t waste your experiences. It’s your experiences or the storm water from them that’s going to give god what he needs to bring restoration to your life. David said “your word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you” that’s what it takes, for you to develop a deep relationship with god to move you into your purpose. Just as god could take the storm of the cross and destroy the old and bring the new so god can do this in your life.

Fourth, God does it to manifest his glory. He wants to show off for you. He wants to throw his weight around. Show everybody how strong he is and to that I give god the praise because he makes my latter better then my former. Who I am is much better when I have learned to lean and depend on god. The second wine is much better then my first wine. What would my life be like if god never improved me I know that the storms I face aren’t there to hurt me but to help me. So keep your head up and trusting god who knows what’s best. Now I have been presented to the master and He declares a word into my life a life about the purposes of my life.
